First things first: at some point very soon these shows will be moving over to Mixcloud. I’ll still use this site for things, but very likely NOT for uploading new shows. Old shows will probably become unavailable at some point soon, too. If you’d like to be prepared and get notifications when shows start popping up over there, make yourself an account, head to the link at the bottom of this post, and hit ‘Follow.’
This week’s show delved into my compilation albums, which I don’t explore all that often, largely because it’s mostly stuff from bigger labels and I like to focus on independent music and labels when I can. Which is not to say there isn’t good music on the big labels, as this show can attest.
Thanks as always for the listen. Please do sign up and follow me on Mixcloud so that you don’t miss out when the show moves over to that platform entirely.

Mardi Gras was yesterday, but the festivities never end! I have some brand new tunes in here from Monkey Doo and Tuba Skinny, as well as some of my new and old favorites, like Blossom Dearie, Emily Cole, Emily Estrella, Kimba Griffith, and many more.
This week I am diverging from the formula, as much as there is one, to bring some other kinds of tunes. I always say that it’s jazz, swing, blues, and other amazing tunes from around the world. We’ve got some of those first things in the list, of course, because I love those things, but there is also a lot of ‘other’ in this show, because I love these things, too.
And I’m sure you will as well. Love it or hate it, leave me a comment and let me know what you think!
I’m not above making you wait until the second hour to hear it, but I promise that Art Blakey & the Jazz Messengers playing ‘Lift Every Voice and Sing’ is completely worth the wait. Such a great song and good message. Check out some of these other amazing resources to commemorate Black History Month.
Along with the usual good music I snuck in a little electroswing and electroblues this week. I find that I get tired of it if I try and do an entire show (which I did, once) but I do enjoy throwing it into a set here and there. What do you think? Also a few artists that I enjoy but don’t play very often because they are on big labels and I mainly try and stay with my indie label staples.
Enjoy, and thanks for listening, and let me know what you want to hear next week!
