April 14, 2021: I Double Dare You

Another week, another two hours of fun music. Kicking things off with a little Spiderman action from the band, Babik. At one point I thought this band included Django’s youngest child, Babik, but it’s actually just named after him. That’s cool too, though, and they have that gypsy jazz thing that I like so much, especially for the Spiderman theme!

Spring has definitely sprung around here, which means it is sunny and beautiful, and that I need to go and mow the yard before it gets out of control. May your seeds be sprouting and your legs be swinging!

April 7, 2021: Get Out and Get Under the Moon

This brand new track by Leigh Barker off her album, Melbourne, is just one of the many new (and new to me) tracks featuring this week on the show. It was Bandcamp Friday last week, which means all proceeds there go directly to the artists, so I got about a dozen new albums to add to my collection, which just means more great music to share with you!

Thanks for listening!

March 31, 2021: Ain’t the Gravy Good

Woo, we’re four weeks in to this Mixcloud thing and it’s all going smoothly. Soon all of the old non-Mixcloud shows on this site are going to disappear, so if you want to listen to any old shows, there is no time like the present!

Kicking things off this week with a Ruth Brown track, because I love Ruth Brown, followed by a track that Ruth Brown is really known for, but sung by Miss T and the Mad Tubes – also, and again, because I love Ruth Brown.

Next week is Bandcamp Friday, so I will very likely pick up some new tunes to share. In the meantime, there isn’t a particular theme to this week’s show; just, as usual, good songs that I think you will enjoy!

March 24, 2021: Sinnerman

We’re watching through Sherlock on Netflix, which has been a joy, not only because the show is great but because our ten-year-old has been enjoying it as well. It’s nice to have something not animated, not Star Wars / Marvel / Harry Potter, that everyone likes to watch. Nice, and sometimes rare.

Anyway, the episode we just watched included Nina Simone singing Sinnerman, and that song is so, so, so good. So it’s in this show, along with a bunch of other really good songs.

Also, Valerie June’s new album just came out, and it is BONKERS GOOD.

March 17, 2021: Feeling Green

Second Mixcloud show, which seems to be working out well. Give me a follow over there if you have not already, that is where the music is going to live from here on out.

I’ll keep posting shows on the site, of course, and this is also a good space to make song requests, which I will try and play!

Not a real big theme this week, just lots of good music, and a few little nods to St. Patrick’s Day. Maybe it actually is easy being green?
